What to use in Illustrating?

Hello Jennifer Brown,

This question is not really on what is a better software for graphics designing but what software would best work for you depending on their feature. Adobe Illustrator is tailored for business graphics market. Some of its key feature is it utilizes sophisticated vector drawing tools, with advance typography so you could design text and gradients and transparency tool. The latest version of Adobe Illustrator is Illustrator CS5. Most graphics designer opt Adobe Illustrator because it more advanced and usually caters to professional designers. With CorelDRAW although it offers also to professional market, the good thing about it is tutorials, tips, and templates can be accessed by amateurs. The latest available version of CorelDRAW is CorelDRAW Graphic Suite X6. The key feature of CorelDRAW is vector illustration and page layout, availability of drawing and tracing tools, with professional photo editing-capabilities and advertised as powerful website design software.

You can download and install CorelDraw Graphics Suite X6. Watch this video for a tutorial:

Hi Jennifer Brown,

Each program has its own advantages and disadvantages.

If you are familiar to other soft from Adobe such as Photoshop, you should choose Illustrator, because they have some familiar window, tool, shortcut…

If you are new to illustrating software, you should choose Corel Draw. In my opinion, CD is easier to use than Illustrator is.

Both of them are vector base graphic programs. So, they both used to create logo, brochure, and other vector graphics.

The latest version of Corel is Corel Draw X6, and the latest version of Illustrator is CS6.

Hope this helps
