I have learned about the different generations of cellular networks in class, however, the text is limited to the introduction to 4G and I know for a fact that the testing of 5G networks has already started. I have also seen mobile manufacturers launching 5G ready devices. What is new in 5G and how fast is it?

What Are The Features Of 5G

As you already know, 5G is the next iteration of the generations of mobile cellular networks. Many mobile phone manufacturers have already launched 5G ready phones like OnePlus and 5G trials have also begun in the United Kingdom.

One of the biggest features of this generation of cellular networks is the data speeds. 5G is supposed to peak at 20 Gbps downlink and 10Gbps uplink which is about 100 times faster than 4G. Other features of 5G include larger coverage area, lower power consumption, and better network security. 5G will also offer subscriber supervision tools along with remote diagnostics.

All in all, as compared to the previous generations of cellular networks, 5G promises to be the fastest, most consistent, and the most secure cellular network technology.
