If you have reset your desktop, then there will be only recycled bin and my computer icon on your screen. It is very simple to customize your desktop screen. That is how to recover desktop icons on your screen –

1.) Right-click on the screen and click properties. Open the desktop option and click Customize.

2.) Select the icons you want to place on your screen and the themes you want to set. Then click OK.

If you reset your desktop screen and you have many icons in there, unfortunately, all of them will be gone. There is no way to recover them because you reset the system or the display setting back to default where there are no icons yet. The only way you can get back those icons on your screen is to create them again one by one.

You don’t actually need to create all of them on the spot or right away. It will be too much work if you have many applications installed. Create and restore the icons back on your screen as you use your computer every day. Like if you need to run a program and the icon is not on your screen, this is when you create the shortcut on your desktop.

Gradually icons will start appearing on your screen. The good thing about this is that the icons that will appear on your screen are the ones you only use. Those icons that are just bundled with the software will not appear and clutter your screen. The easiest way to create the shortcut for the application is to copy it from the Start menu and paste them on your desktop.
