When I am using my VPN at home, I am unable to get a steady connection.
When at work, I use the same laptop to connect to the same VPN.
It works fine when I am at work, but gets disconnected every 3 to 5 minutes when I am home.
Somebody please help me.
Can you browse through the internet at home with no problems?
Has your VPN ever worked at home?
Are you directly connected to your ISP's modem or do you use a router?
What Android VPN Client are you currently using?
Right now, this can be correlated to your internet connection however, it will help if you can provide me answers for the above questions, so we investigate this issue further.

I connect wirelessly through a router, and yes, I can browse the internet with no problems.
I'm connecting using prepaid internet at home.
I have Cisco VPN.

If you are connecting via prepaid internet, then it's most likely due to the DHCP lease time, assigned by your ISP. Your DHCP lease has apparently expired, causing the frequent disconnects and your computer is not able to obtain a new lease. If your lease time were increased to something reasonable, that may help address your problem.
You said you can connect fine at work, using the same computer and VPN setup and this issue point to your internet connection at home.
I guess your ISP also provides postpaid DSL services, which would explain the short DHCP lease on prepaid and dial up accounts. It would benefit their network to give all broadband accounts a longer lease, as this will help reduce overhead on their DHCP server and free up a small amount of bandwidth. Please try to contact your ISP, to renegotiate your lease time, if that's possible.

After speaking with my ISP, I have configured my modem to use NAT.
This also changes the lease time from 1 minute to 3 days.
I am currently connected now to VPN and it seems to be holding!
