Virus or Spyware not allowing internet access

I have not been able to access the internet from my desktop computer.It was working before.Now when I open the browser ,I get a message saying "The proxy server refusing the connection". My computer used to be able to access the internet, but it simply stopped all of a sudden. My computer is running Windows XP.Can someone help me please!!

Hi! Larry Smith:

I had this problem a while ago. Anyway, most web browsers won't allow internet access if a virus or spyware is detected. Now the proxy server acts as a filter, it will either permit or forbid the connection to the requested website. What I can suggest is for you to download a "Malware Removal" tool. Before I forget, you have to download it from an uninfected computer and install the file to the infected one. After that, make sure  you've selected NO PROXY under CONNECTION SETTINGS of the Web browser you would intend to use.

• This "The proxy server refusing the connection" error sometimes caused by virus and spyware infections. However, this issue can be resolved in no time.
• A simple good look of your browser settings can change everything. A quick anti-virus and anti-spyware scan provide you idea whether computer has a virus infection.
• Now, this steps depend on how your Anti-virus works. Check if it's up-to-date to ensure better protections.
• What you need to do to fix this error is to perform these steps first

Open web browser, go to Tools and Internet Options
Click on Connections tab and below click on LAN settings
Remove any check mark on Use a proxy server for your LAN(These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections).
Remote the check on Use automatic configuration script

Also, updating your Anti-virus is also a great help to prevent this from happening and worry free mindset of virus infections.
