Very poor internet connections with service pack 3

Whenever I am using my laptop at home, it’s connectivity to the internet is usually very poor and at times, it doesn’t link up to the internet at all. However, when am outdoors, the internet connection is usually superb. Some time ago, I was informed about a possible solution, which required that I overhaul the service pack 2 in order to solve the problem. Well I realized later that I had initially already installed service pack 3 as soon as I had installed windows XP with service pack 2. Well I am now just trying to figure out whether I have to install windows once again via service pack 2 after which I sum up the patch then add service pack 3. What is the way forward or can it just work after adding the patch immediately?

Hi user

I don't think you need to reinstall windows xp with service pack 2 to install the patch. If the patch solved the problem in service pack 2 then microsoft would have include that fix in service pack 3, there will be no need to install any patches. So the solution you mentioned wont work because the problem is a different one.

It doesn't look like a problem in the software. This could be caused by the difficulty in your wireless network device to receive incoming signal as the loss in connectivity occurs when you are in places where the signal could weaken. It may be caused by your wireless network device malfunctioning or your ISP is having some issues. See for a bit longer whether the problem persists.

Hello Keith Mitchels,

If the internet that you are using in Wi-Fi internet and you are saying that when you move outside the house you have a strong connection as compared to the inside, then it means that the hotspot is outside the house and you will probably need to use the hotspot in case you are in need of very fast internet connection..

But if with windows xp service pack 2 you used to have fast internet connection inside the house, then you can just reinstall it since the slow connections could be something to do with the operating system also.
