Hello all,

I recently tried to install McAfee antivirus on my 64 bit windows but the installation was not successful.

It resulted in the following error on the screen:

The version of Windows installed on this machine is not supported

The error says:

McAfee Installer

The version of Windows installed on this machine is not supported.

Please refer to the product documentation for a list of supported operating systems.

Can anyone please shed some light if this is a compatibility issue or some other problem? please help me out to solve the problem. I will be waiting for your comments.

Kindest regards.

1. Almost all the security software available in the market need correct Windows versions to be installed on. You need to install 64 bit version of the McAfee Antivirus on 64 Bit operating system.

Visit the following link to download the latest Free Trial Version of McAfee Virus Scan.

Select the correct windows version before downloading.

2. If you have purchased the wrong version of McAfee Virus Scan you may need to contact McAfee Customer Support to obtain the correct version (64 Bit Version in your case).

3. If you are running Windows 7 Ultimate version you can try Windows XP mode on it to run the McAfee installer.

4. You may also try running the installer as an administrator (Right click the installer and select Run as Administrator). You should have administrator privileges to run the installer as administrator.
