MS office can be used in UBUNTU O S as that is being used in millions of other formalities. That the M S Office setup is only for the windows version. That is it cannot work in other O S, or that it is not compatible. Some other things that if Microsoft offers a version for the LINUX systems, then it can be used for the LINUX systems.

The similar fact is that some corporation like the SUN has built similar software that is compatible to the Windows office which is known to be Office ORG. You can download this from the internet.

 Hi Aldo Dillan!

You cannot install Microsoft office on Linux. MS Office is only compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems. I will suggest you to install Open Office which is freeware and having features are similar to MS office.

You don’t actually need to install other OS or operating system but you do need to install another application to be able to run and use Microsoft Office applications on your Linux Ubuntu. First, you need to install Wine. It is a Windows compatibility layer that will let you run Windows applications on Linux. Though it’s not perfect but it’s adequately optimized to run popular applications such as Microsoft Office.

Wine works better with older versions of Microsoft Office. That means the older your version is, the more likely it is to work without a problem. On your Ubuntu, go to Ubuntu Software Center. Search for Wine and then install the Wine package. See image.

After that, insert your Microsoft Office disc into your optical drive. Open your file manager then browse the disc. Right-click “setup.exe”, point to Open With then select Wine. See image.

The installer will appear next then just follow the instructions.
