What are the steps I can do to set-up Microsoft DNS for my home servers? I have five home servers that needs Microsoft DNS so I can start hosting my own website.Â
I'm new in DNS and web hosting so think of me as a beginner.
Use Microsoft DNS for Home Servers
To install Microsoft DNS for Windows NT Server:
-
Click on the Start button
-
Go to Settings
-
Choose Control Panel
-
Double-click on the Network icon
-
Click on the Services tab
-
Click on Add
-
Choose Microsoft DNS Server from Select Network Service dialog box
-
Click on OK
-
Type the location of the Windows NT source file
-
Click on OK
-
Click on Close
-
Re-apply your Service Pack if you have one
-
Restart your computer
After you’re done installing the Microsoft DNS and would like to have it configured, you may go to https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Cc725925.aspxfor further assistance.
