Why is my USB disk detector for Windows XP is not working properly? Are they different for different brands of USB because my Kennington driver works fine but I am not able to detect the Scandisk one.

Hello.

There is no problem with your usb disk detector of your system.

The problem is with your scandisk drive.

It might have been malfunctioned.

If at all you have warranty with your scandisk just replace your scandisk with the new one.

Try to connect your scandisk drive in other systems to check whether it is working or not.

Thank you.

Hello

If you have two many USB devices plugged in in they could be conflicting with one another.

Try and unplug some other devices that are using USB then restart your computer and plug in the USB stick again.

When plugging in USB devices the drivers are usually automatically installed. Sometimes these drivers corrupt.

Try to plug the USB stick into another port. This will refresh the drivers for it.

If none of these solutions work for you then download the driver from here
