Update Problem. McAfee cannot update your software

Hello,

Is for the first time when I cannot update my McAfee AntiVirus and I try to make the necessary updates for 2-3 days. I have the full version and it was activated with a serial, so I have the full version which shouldn’t be a problem updating it. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem with my antivirus ? Why I cannot update it ?

Update Problem. McAfee cannot update your software

Hello Steve,

Please try the following workaround/s- 

 

#1 

Download and Run McAfee Virtual Technician (MVT), to fix this. [http://mvt.mcafee.com/ ]

Allow MVT to scan and solve issue

Open a command prompt and Ping www.google.com If you receive no replies from the ping fix connection issue else check whether IP is set to be static, now based on availability of DHCP, make it DHCP

Because Sometimes server side has restriction over cliet IP etc.

Renew your IP Address and try to update Macafe

<MSS version 12.0 or earlier>

Go to General Settings and Alerts.

Deselect Use Access Protection, apply and OK. Close Application.

Browse to <Install-Path>McAfeeVirusScan.

Rename DAT Folder

Now Check updates, Dont forget to restore Access protection once you are done

Reinstall your McAfee software
