Unable to install the Blackberry Desktop Manager (610_b038_multilanguage)

Hello, I'm currently trying to install the Blackberry Desktop Manager. However, when I have extracted the installer and ran the setup as Administrator, it kept on displaying the error message:

"The installation files cannot be validated. Please verify the installation package and try again."

(I apologize I cannot add the image displaying this error, I'm writing this from my computer and I ran the installer on my laptop, since my computer do not meet the requirement to install the Desktop Manager [my computer runs a WIndow XP Service Pack 2]).

When I extracted the files, however, I cannot find the file named 'BlackberrySetup.exe', instead I found only a file named 'Setup.exe'. My laptop is running a Windows 7 Starter Pack, and the desktop software I'm currently trying to install is the 610_b038_multilanguage.

Could please anyone help? Thank you in advance.

Hello,

The problem is produced because your computer does not verify the certification path. Using certification trust the installer package signed.

You must confirm certification path. It is done by sign the .msi and .cab contains

1.  Verify the file extension. If the file extension hidden by default.

Click Tools, and then select folder options. Click view tab. In view tab you unchecked ‘Hide extension for known  file types’.

2.  Rename .exe extension to .zip

3.  Right click the installer file to extract the contents. Now Open with 3rd party unzips or compressed file.

4.  Go to File. Extract all to destination folder. Select properties by right click the data1.cab

5.  You select details by click Digital signatures tab.

6.  Examine the state of digital signature. Confirm the certificate is flagged as trusted.

7.  If it’s not trusted, on your computer click the certificate information after ensure the signing certificate authority certificate is installed.

Now the problem is easily solved.

Thanks.

If you cannot install it on your computer because it only runs on Windows XP Service Pack 2, there is actually no problem because you only need to update your operating system to Service Pack 3 and it will not cost you anything since it is totally free. To update to Service Pack 3, download and install Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Also, before installing the BlackBerry Desktop Software, make sure to check first the operating system on your mobile phone. If your handset is running on BlackBerry 7.1 and earlier, you need to install BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1. But if your BlackBerry Smartphone is running on BlackBerry 10 OS, you need to install the BlackBerry Link.

If you have a BlackBerry 7.1 Smartphone, try downloading the installer again from BlackBerry Desktop Software 7.1. It requires Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. You also need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. If you don’t have it yet, download it from Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1.
