Too many svchost.exe instances in my Task Manager

Hi everybody!

Lately I noticed that I have too many processes in my task manager. And I found that there are 10 processes of svchost.exe and they eat up an unusual amount of memory. 4 of the processes are listed under Local service 4 under system and 2 of them are under network system.

Is this normal or do I have a virus? If so what can I do about it?

Thanks in advance.

There's nothing really to worry about all the svchost.exe that you see on your system. It is pretty much normal as long as all of the svchost.exe is written in lower case letters. I read through a lot of forums and the maximum that they get is seven svchost.exe on their own Task Manager. On my Windows XP installed laptop, I only seen a maximum of five svchost.exe, I was also worried back then but as I searched through the web I learned more about it.

Note: Don't stop those svchost.exe processes because they are important.
