I downloaded and installed Norton 2011.

It was working fine at first but recently after double-clicking the Norton icon to open it,

I am receiving error stating: ATTENTION: Access Denied, Drive C.

I uninstalled Norton but after a reboot, another error appears on my screen stating: ccRegVfy.exe – Unable To Locate Component.

I tried to install it again but there is an Access Denied Error.

I don’t know what else to do. So if anyone here who has the ides,

I hope you can share it with me.

Thanks.

Normally when you receive the error message stating “Access Denied”, it means that your computer could be infected with a virus.  The ccRegVfy.exe is a component of your virus checking and it comes from the Norton anti-virus suite. It is a startup entry that works automatically from a Run, RunOnce, RunServices, or also RunServicesOnce entry in your computers registry.

To fix this, first ensure that you download and install the Error Fix Tool, click on the option “Start Scan Now” so as to commence a full scan of your computer, and then click on the option "Repair All”. This will ensure that all errors detected on your computer will be cleaned.

You can fix this error by just simply log in as a administrator.

You can just go to safe mode to do this operation. You need to go to safe mode and then try to install your virus program.

Also check that you are not running two virus programs at a time this will also cause the problem as you tell.

To go to safe mode just restart your computer and press F8 key several times when login and then you will be able to see the safe mode options. Here once you selected the safe mode then you can go to install you software.

Try to install it by add/ remove programs and make sure that it is perfectly installed and configured. Once you have installed program you will be able to run a virus scan.

Run a full scan to your computer to check that there is no virus infection in your PC.

I hope this will solve your problem.

If you are referring to Norton antivirus 11, an “access denied” error should not happen unless your computer is infected. It can happen if the computer is severely infected and the virus managed to cripple the antivirus preventing it from completely running. In this case, download Sophos Virus Removal Tool and install it. Once installed, wait until it finishes updating its virus definitions.

When it is ready, click “Scan” to scan your computer for malware. This tool will scan everything in your computer including devices connected in the USB port. The scan will take some time depending on the contents of your computer. When a virus is found, delete or remove it and then repeat the scan until it no longer detects a virus.

This tool is great for computers that are already infected. Note: this is only a virus removal tool, it is not an antivirus. It doesn’t have a real-time monitoring system. Once your computer is clean, download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo and select your Norton antivirus from the list and click “Uninstall.”

Follow the normal uninstall process. When you are prompted to restart the computer, select to restart later. Once uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftovers and then delete everything it finds. This will remove everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then restart the computer. After booting, install your Norton antivirus back and see if it works.
