Hi,

There are many svchost.exe presences on my Task Manager list where processes are found as I posted underneath.

I consider it’s slowing down my computer.

Microsoft says that svchost.exe is an application which is one type of general host process name for services that run from dll files.

Is it alright to kill most of them?

Hi I think always any problem should be detected with proper knowledge first, then be asked for a solution. You talked about svchost.exe processes you see in the task manager processes list. For sure it's a matter of query that what are all these processes. You may find your answer in the following link:

https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/what-is-svchostexe-and-why-is-it-running/

And no, you can't kill that process. That's not at all good for your PC. Learn more in this webpage:

Hope all these helped you understand the thing. Thanks.

Hello Joseph,

Do the following:

You will need to view the list of services that are running in Svchost as follows:

  • Click Start on the Windows taskbar, and then click Run.
  • In the Open box, type CMD, and then press ENTER.
  • Type Tasklist /SVC, and then press ENTER.

The tasklist has a list of active processes. You can stop those processes.

Regards,

Nicke
