The Base Filtering Engine Service Is Not Running

I have a Windows 7 laptop and I have started getting a very strange error message from time to time. This is the first time I am seeing this error. It says the base Filtering engine service is not running. I do not know what this means. How to solve this?

The Base Filtering Engine Service Is Not Running

The base filtering engine is a very important service. This service is often a target for malware. If the service stops working, important network components such as the firewall stopped working.

Now, you can go ahead and solve this problem manually but it involves editing or making changes to the Windows registry. I think you should let the professionals do this as if done wrong, this step is fatal. I would suggest that you call up tech support and let someone from the company that sold you the laptop have a look at it instead of you solving it manually.
