Tell me advantage and disadvantage of international standards

 

Advantages:

 

1. If everyone follows the standard, then they would all be able to interconnect easily

2. Maintenance and installation become simplified due to a common underlying standard

3. A common benchmark for others to build upon

4. Widespread use encourages people to develop applications that comply with existing standards

 

Disadvantages:

 

1. Once a standard has been adopted worldwide, it would be difficult to modify if any issues are identified in it.

2. There would be a lesser focus on developing new techniques once all organizations start following a standard

3. Every standard has its own inherent limitations

4. If new techniques are discovered, it would be difficult to incorporate those techniques into an already accepted standard

Tell me advantage and disadvantage of international standards

 

Advantages:

 

1. Compliance with standards would allow everyone to communicate since the underlying standard is the same

2. Economies of Scale

 

Disadvantages:

 

1. Standardization often requires a certain political comprises which result in poorly defined standards.

2. It is difficult to modify a standard once it has gained widespread application. This means that even if better methods are discovered, the existing standard would be difficult to upgrade. By the time it is, the new techniques would have been rendered archaic.

Tell me advantage and disadvantage of international standards

Having international standards for network protocols offer many advantages. But, there are also some potential disadvantages.

Two advantages of having international standards for network protocols are:

1. Everyone obeys standards.
2. Having the independence of choosing from a variety of vendors.

For every plus, there is a minus. International standards for network protocols are not without some drawbacks. The two potential disadvantages are:

1. Takes a lot of time for companies to agree on standards.
2. Difficulty in modifying the standard later.
