Hi,

Yes you can stop your PC using Windows XP from crashing. You can also do this from a remote desktop computer.  With remote desktop you can log off or shutdown your pc immediately. To do this you must have to connect remote desktop first. Then you will find a option on XP in accessories tab named communication > remote desktop connection. With this option you can log in to connected remote pc and shut it down.

Skype application can be used to do video calls between Xp and iphone 4. Download Skype version 5.1 in your iphone and Xp and then use different account to make a video call.

If your iPhone supports GPRS connection or any wireless connection then you can use any service that is easily available  like yahoo service or msn also. You can install these services on both of your devices and then you will be able to chat between two devices. Major thing is a network and you need to built a network if you want to connect two of your devices.

Also when using large files you need to use a extra RAM to work with these files. If your computer doesn't support the files that you want to run on a specific computer then you will not be able to run these files. In this case you can increase the capability of your computer by increasing either the processor or by increasing the RAM. But in this case RAM is more efficient then to making a change in your processor.
