Hi,

I am planning to sell my iPad 1 as I recently bought iPad 2. I know how to remove the data from my iPad but just need a confirmation whether I should reset anything so that my old iPad is like a brand new one?

Hi,

Other than erasing your data you should restore your default factory settings to make your old iPad like a brand new one. This way you will remove all your data from your iPad like audio and video files, pictures, books, calendar related information and any other data residing on your iPad. Also you should sync your device before restoring it to its default factory settings.

Yes of course. Just go through the following steps one by one:
1. Update your iTunes software.
2. Connect your device.
3. Under Device in iTunes select iPad.
4. Select Summary Option and then Restore Option.
5. Once the restoring process begins the iPad would restart showing the Apple logo.

I followed the above steps and got the following option at the end to either set up my iPad as new iPad or to restore from a backup. Can you explain the difference between the two?

If your device is backed up using iTunes then you can restore your iPad with the backed up data. But in your case as I understand you need to make your iPad as a new one as you plan to sell it off. So you should choose the "Set up as new iPad" option to complete the restoration process.
