SQL stands for Structured Query Language, as the abbreviation indicates that it is a language. Hence, it is a language. Like C++ and Java, SQL is also considered as a Programming Language. C++ and Java came under 3G languages, whereas SQL is under 4G Programming Language. 4G languages are nearer to human language.
