I use windows media player version 11 on my PC. I have installed Mappoint 2004 without any troubles and the program runs very well. But without uninstalling Mappoint 2004, I try to install 2006. In the mid time of the install process an error message occurs that seems like this

The error message itself is telling the whole story. Basically the Windows version, which you are using right now, can only work with Mappoint 2004. For example if you are using windows xp service pack 2 and you are successfully running Mappoint 2004, and getting error in installing Mappoint 2006, then you must update your windows from service pack 2 to service pack 3. That will fix your problem.
You can download an installer package of Service pack 3 from the Microsoft website. Just install it and you will be able to install Mappoint 2006.

If you installed Microsoft MapPoint 2006 without uninstalling version 2004 and you triggered this error, try uninstalling MapPoint 2004 and then install MapPoint 2006 again. Download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo Uninstaller then select your MapPoint 2004 among the applications and click “Uninstall.” Follow the normal uninstall process.
When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and then delete everything it finds. This will remove everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, close Revo Uninstaller then install Microsoft MapPoint 2006 again. See if this works. Also, make sure your computer meets the requirements before installing Microsoft MapPoint 2006.
Microsoft MapPoint 2006 supports Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP (Home and Professional editions), and Windows Server 2003.
