Hello everyone,

I am running Windows Vista and I installed Pro Tools 10. I am using Scarlett 2i2 USB recording interface. I tried to play a wave file on my timeline but there is always an error preventing me. I tried changing buffer size but no luck yet. According to the error message there are CPU issues that I need to be keen on but what issues?

Error message:

Audio processing could not complete due to conflicts with other CPU tasks or a potential clocking issue. If this occurs often, verify your sync cables or try changing the HW Buffer Size setting in the Playback Engine dialog. In most cases, a larger HW buffer size will prevent the problem.

If you are using Pro Tools 10, you should be running Microsoft Windows 7 [Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate] 32-bit and 64-bit Service Pack 1 or Mac OS X 10.6.7 Snow Leopard until 10.7.4 Lion 32-bit or 64-bit. You can’t use it on other operating systems because these are the only operating systems supported.

If you are running the application while other programs are also open then this is probably the cause why the program is having a problem with other CPU tasks. To fix this, run the application exclusively. Close all applications then restart your computer. After booting, open Pro Tools and Pro Tools alone. Don’t open any other programs to avoid the same conflict again.

You should also remember that when using Pro Tools you are expected to have at least 2 GB of RAM on your computer. If your computer has less then you need to add more RAM. You may also try adjusting the amount of virtual memory your computer is using. You should also try adjusting the hardware buffer size setting.

Adjust the size and make it bigger then try it again.
