Hello,

I used bootcamp to do a patch for RPC-1in Windows. I can see that a patch has been done so I restarted my computer. I also have Mac and I used bootcamp on both Windows and Mac, and on start up the following error was displayed in both systems. Can anyone figure out what this is?

Error message:

There was a problem changing the drive region. Error: – 70001

It seems that this is an obvious error and cannot be fixed because of the DVD drive’s current settings. I know most users are aware that DVD drives can be set to a specific region and play discs only from that region. This is fine especially if you don’t like playing videos from other regions thus limiting your drive to only a specific region.

But I’m not sure if you are also aware that the number of times you can change the region of your DVD drive is mostly limited to only five times. That means after the fifth time you will no longer be able to change the region and stick with that region permanently.

And in your case, your DVD drive is already informing you that you will no longer be able to change its region because you already exhausted the number of times you can change the region. This is the downside of modifying the region of the DVD drive. That’s why it is still recommended not to modify the region of the DVD drive to avoid this problem.

If you really need to change the DVD drive’s region, you need to buy a new DVD drive or simply borrow a DVD drive from your friends that is set to the region you want to play.
