I am having issues with my 2tb Toshiba external drive. It is taking a long time for anything to upload or download from it to my computer. Is there a way you can check drive like a regular hard drive. Will a chkdsk work with these type of drives ok?

Hi Donald G Gibbons

Yes, you can use that actually its very nice to do that. But there's another way of finding a solution to your problem. But you have to do it manually  just follow the instruction on how doing it.

Instructions
1 Click "Start." Click "Control Panel," then click "Hardware and Sound." Select "Device Manager" from beneath "Devices and Printers."

2 Expand "Disk drives." Right-click the device driver for the external USB drive.

3 Choose "Properties" from the context menu. Click the "Policies" tab. Click the radio button next to "Optimize for performance."

4 Click "OK" to improve the speed of the USB drive. Restart the computer.
