Question about Firewire Speed Compatibility

If I do put a 64-bit Firewire 800 PCI in my 32-bit slot, I already understand it will not go to the full Firewire speed. So what speed will it go to exactly?

Will it just be the plain old Firewire 400? Or will it be somewhere in between?

Hi,

Yes, you are right about it. If you put a 64-bit Firewire 800 PCI in my 32-bit slot, it will not go with the full Firewire speed that it has. But it will speed up your Firewire more than before. It will not be just the plain old Firewire 400 that you imagine. It will speed up more than that.

There is a matrix and dynamic calculation for speed and slot. 64-bit Firewire 800 PCI will not match properly in 32-bit slot but 64-bit Firewire 800 PCI has its internal speed to work faster than 32-bit Firewire 400 PCI. So this theory will help to speed up. Not much may be 525 to 575 or 625.
