I am only using Exchange Server 2007, and I’m sure you’ll be able to make use of this instructions.

1.  Expand Server configuration by clicking “+” sign and click Mailbox.

2.  In the Mailbox Window Pane, select the server where you want to create.

3.  From the Work Pane, click New Storage Group link and it will show you the New Storage Group Window.

4.  Server name is automatically placed in, indicate the Storage Group Name, now it’s up to you the location to set the Log files Path and System Files Path and then click “New” button.

If your mailbox exceeds limit it will not accept any new mail. It will give you notification that you have exceeded your quota and cannot send or receive any more. In Exchange 2007 at least 50 storage groups and pretty sure that Exchange 2013 can offer more than that. Anyway 50 storage group is more than enough for us to handle.
