Hey, I’m having a problem with Windows Installer v.3.1.
I’m not sure of the precise moment when the error started to occur, but it seems that the installer file somehow got corrupted, and now all I’m getting is this message:
K8893803v2 Setup Error
KB893803v2 Setup canceled.
Any idea on how to make things work properly again?
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
First uninstall all windows installer you used before. Then restart your pc. Now use registry cleaner to clean all records and registry file for previous uninstalled applications record. Now try to install this Windows Installer v.3.1 again. If this is not working then install Windows Installer v4.5. it will install properly. You can fine it from any software lab or download it from here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483.
Go to run and type msconfig then enter. Now in services box stop all Microsoft related services for a while and then try to install Windows Installer v.3.1. this time I hope it will install properly

Hello Lucie J,
It is pretty possible that your systems windows installer has been corrupt and therefore you cannot use it to carry out any installation. Every time that you try to use you will be getting that 'setup cancelled error' or 'windows installer has stopped working' kind of error. Therefore you will need to fix the bugs in the installer which may be caused by broken or corrupt registry files and therefore I will advice that you obtain an application called CCleaner and use it to fix the registries. You can get CCleaner for free from the internet, therefore just search for it using Google.
You may also consider getting another third party windows installer application from the internet and then install it to use it instead of the corrupt one.
