Problem reinstalling Windows using XP CD

Hello experts

I have used a Dell Dimension 4600 2.4 GHz, 250 GB WD SATA Hard Drive, 1 GB RAM.
I am trying to reinstall Windows but as soon as I insert the XP CD and click "Press any key to continue" the display goes black.

Also I have a Fedora Linux Distro on the other partition through Grub installed for the MBR.

I want to use this XP CD to boot. Does anybody have any idea?

I've used 4 until now but nothing is working. My classes will be starting on Monday and I have to work on this computer. Need your help to solve this.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

According to my thinking Fedora if you go in details the GRUB (Linux Boot loader) is the reason for problem. You should try booting into Linux run Fdisk on the drive.

For Example,

If linux is installed on the first SATA device then you will run the following commands

fdisk /dev/sda

Then you should Press P to the list of partitions.

Then you should delete each of the partitions individually by pressing d then by enter the partition number.

Alternative is Use dban’s boot and kill link (https://dban.org/) for knowledge of clearing the hard drive. (By using Erase Mode)

Hope this solution will be helpful for you.

My utmost gratitude to Heiley Paint.

I won't get into so much detail but I followed your second solution and it totally worked. At first I was psyched whether I could do it or not but I did. All thanks to you. Thanks TechyV.

Sorry for the late response. Thank you for the help. I'm glad that I was able fix it in time for my classes. Thanks.
