HI, I recently installed (actually upgraded) IIS7 in order to make proper use of .net 4.0.
But when I install Umbraco for the .net, I’m getting the following error message.

There was an error while performing this operation.
Details:
Line number:172
Error : The configuration section'system.web.extensions' cannot
be read because it is missing a declaration
Please look into it and suggest a solution please.

Problem installing Umbraco after installing IIS7
I think the problem started when you upgraded your system to IIS 7 [Internet Information Services 7]. It is possible that the upgrade didn’t go well and encountered some problems along the way which you are not aware because the error normally is not displayed on the screen.
Try doing a clean installation of Internet Information Services 7 to restore it to its default configuration and fix any corrupted files that may have developed during the previous upgrade. Uninstall Internet Information Services 7 from your machine then restart your computer when asked. After booting, check your computer for any possible errors.
Use a disk utility application to check the system. Install Internet Information Services 7 again after this then restart the installation for Umbraco since I think the installation didn’t complete.
