I can’t install motherboard’s driver software. Just today I installed windows 7. And after installing it when I am try to install the driver-set from motherboards cd, it says problem with installing. Note that my motherboard is “foxconn G31MW”. Interesting thing is even  I can’t install any driver; my sound is working fine without the audio driver.

I can't seem to find any "G31MW" motherboard model in Foxconn's website.  Are you sure you got the model number right? What is the exact message that the installer gives you?  It will help us give you a more relevant answer.

Generally, this is how I troubleshoot problems with driver installation:

1.  Check if the CD is OK.  Try copying the contents of the CD somewhere on your hard disk.  If possible, make an ISO image of it and run it through a Virtual CD such as Daemon Tools Lite or Alcohol 120%.

2.  Check if the drivers you are installing is compatible with your OS.  64-bit OS requires 64-bit drivers same with 32-bit OS.

3.  Download and install the latest drivers from Foxconn support site.

Windows 7 has several generic drivers for most available Chipset, LAN cards, video and audio chips so your audio, LAN, graphics, chipset  will sometimes work even without the motherboard driver CD.  However, the manufacturer's drivers are oftentimes better than the Windows default drivers because manufacturers usually tweak various settings of the hardware through their drivers.

Hope this helps.

Driver comes in different version. You must be sure that the driver you have in your hand is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 which is the operating system you have mentioned in your question. To solve for the problem, since it look like your Compact Disc driver installation is not compatible with Microsoft Windows 7, you may find the website support of your motherboard manufacturer and search for the latest driver they have in site which is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 operating system.

Your sound works because Microsoft Windows 7 has built-in drivers inside his operating system. This was the driver installed since the installation has been made.
