It is normal that you couldn’t update your Windows media player because it is necessary that you have the genuine copy of it. Consider to get  a copy of  the Windows XP SP2 for installing  Windows media player 11.0 .

But you can also  try these steps so that you can be able to pass the genuine Windows validation process even if you haven’t acquired the original copy of WMP 11.0.

Start by downloading the newest version of  WMP 11.0 from the website of Microsoft. But first you should run and installed the Windows XP SP2 in your computer system. By using WinRAR to a list or directory such as this one wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu,  bring out the  file set up of WMP 11.0 that you have downloaded. Secured a LegitLibm. Dll by downloading it to the patched and after that duplicate it and paste to folder of wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu, when “Overwrite” appeared on your screen, press “Yes”

In the folder:  wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu , start running the file:  ‘setup_wm.exe”

After running the file, restart your computer then launch WMP 11.0 try if it works.

It sounds like you are operating counterfeit Microsoft windows operating system.

I think Microsoft windows internet explorer is free and it does not require valid or authenticated license of windows.

By the way, let us assume that it was the same level. From that time that you have updated your internet explorer, your license key does not detected yet by the Microsoft as counterfeit key.

But as long as Microsoft validated your key, on the next time you log-on to their site, 100% you will be denied to download their resources.

I have the solution for that but since manipulating software is not allowed in this site, try to drop on this site: http://honeybytes.blogspot.com and leave a message on the site.

This problem happens when you are using a pirated copy of Microsoft Windows XP and you try to update Windows Media Player. You can update Microsoft Internet Explorer to a higher version without receiving the same error. You won’t be able to update Windows Media Player to version 11 this way. Here’s a workaround. First, download Windows Media Player 11 but don’t install it.

Next, unpack “wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe” using WinZip, WinRAR, or 7-Zip. To do this, right-click “wmp11-windowsxp-x86-enu.exe” then point to “7-Zip” and select “Extract”. Next, double-click the following executable in the right order then install one after the other:

  1. wmfdist11.exe
  2. wmp11.exe
  3. umdf.exe
  4. WindowsXP-MSCompPackV1-x86.exe
  5. wmpappcompat.exe – run this only if you have Windows XP Service Pack 2

Lastly, navigate to “C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player” then rename “LegitLibM.dll” to “LegitLib.dll”. Start Windows Media Player after this to begin migrating to the new version and configure the settings.
