Problem facing the un-installation of Exchange 2007 Ghost Server.

I have migrated AD and uninstalled Exchange 2007 mail server. It was uninstalled from my customer’s organization. I will explain with example. There is a mail server named ‘DEF’. I have installed New Exchange Email Server 2007 in the child domain.  I also named the server ‘GHI’ which is different from the original. However the public folders are not working. It was still looking for the ‘DEF’ which is the old reference.  How can I remove the ‘DEF’ reference? I think you have now got the problem. If anybody knows the solution to this, please help me. I will be thankful for all your help.

Actually the reference that you are telling has nothing to do with renaming the child domain differently from the previous one. Because the public server will keep pointing to old reference until you edit the preferences of the public folder.

As it is a hefty process so I suggest that you recreate the public folder. Move all of your contents from public folder to somewhere safe while you do this thing so that no data is lost during this process.

As you also said that you have deleted the Exchange mail server so it also removes the administrative group which was first created and you shouldn't have done it.

For a complete guide on how to re program the admin group or the public folder.
