Problem on Email with Digital Certificate using Outlook 2010

I have upgraded Windows XP Service Pack 3 workstation to Outlook 2010 from Outlook 2000. The problem is when I am receiving email with digital certificate, the contents of the email cannot be viewed and the error message displays that there is no digital certificate. The sender of the mail is already in the contact list and it was working properly in Outlook 2000. When I checked, I noticed that sender does not have a digital certificate in the contact list of Outlook 2010. I’m not sure but maybe this is the cause of the problem. Please help me.

Hallo Mike_williams,

I guess you are experiencing that problem because you have not installed the digital certificate yet. Unlike outlook 2007 and the predecessors, you will need to install the digital certificate to be able to use it. Once you have the digital certificate installed, then you will do the following:

  • You will open outlook, and then look for the Options button which be in the left side of the window and click on it.
  • You will see Outlook Options next; in that window select the trust center option from the list to open the trust center settings.
  • In the next window that will appear, you will click on the email security option, and then settings button in the next window that will appear.
  • In the next window for Security Settings, choose the security settings algorithm and then save the settings.

That should help you solve the problem you are having with the digital certificate in outlook 2010.
