Couple of days ago my friends were talking about something called primary memory and secondary memory and I had to remain shut since I knew nothing about it. Similarly, today I even heard some tech newbie saying about the same. Actually what is the difference among them. Up to now I have just known that primary memory is volatile and secondary memory is non volatile but I very desperately want to know more about it.

Primary Menory and Secondary Memory

Primary memory is the main memory that CPU accesses directly to store and retrieve information.
Secondary memory is an additional or external memory. Since it is an external storage device, it is not directly accessed by the machine. Using secondary memory, we can retrieve the information even when the computer is turned off.
