My Compaq nc6000 wont detect my hard drive when trying to load Win XP every time I get to the screen where it says install or repair or exit I choose install the I get the message no hard drive.

So, you should check them to make sure that every part is working perfectly.
Check out your Hard Disk connection cable first. If you think there is no problem with the cable, check out the hard disk.
