If you have a laptop that won’t charge, there are two possible causes: a broken or faulty charger; a broken battery. In the case of a broken battery, it will still charge most of the time but the battery’s life is a lot shorter. As you use your laptop, the lifespan of the battery decreases gradually overtime as it charges and discharges.

To test why your laptop won’t charge, make sure the charger is disconnected then turn the laptop upside down and then disconnect the battery from the battery compartment. After this, connect the charger back then see if the LED indicator on your laptop lights up or activates. If it activates, it means the charger is working properly and your battery is dead.

At this point, you need to replace your battery with a new one. For the meantime, you can use your laptop with the charger connected but without the battery until you buy a new one. But in case the LED indicator didn’t activate, your charger is probably broken. Try using a different charger for your laptop and see if it works.

If it works on a different charger, you need to buy a new charger.
