Hi TechyV buddies!

I am having some problem with my outlook express. I cannot receive any email but I can send emails. I have tried deleting the 15 million emails because I thought that this might be blocking the emails to come in but after deleting the millions, I still can’t receive any emails. I was told that maybe the error was about my inbox. They said that my inbox was corrupted or something about the inbox.dbx, but I don’t know how to solve this error. Can anyone help me solve this issue? Thank you!

Hello Renato,

In the event that you are using internet with a Microsoft Network and then you try sending your message from a different and not the MSN account, then you will not be able to send any message through your Outlook Express since you have connected to Microsoft Network and you as well are trying to send mail from different account as opposed to MSN, a process that is not allowed.

To resolve that issue, you will need to change the SMTP server for your e-mail account so that it will be able to use the MSN SMTP server. The following is how you do it:

  • First you will need to open Outlook Express, and then click Accounts on the Tools menu.
  • After that you will click the Mail tab, and the choose the account that you wish to change, and after that click the Properties button.
  • Next you will click the Servers tab.
  • And then go to the Server Information and get rid of the entry that is in the Outgoing mail box, and after that type smtp.email.msn.com.
  • Go to the Outgoing Mail Server, and then click to choose the My server requires authentication check box, and after that  click the Settings button.
  • Next go to the Logon Information and then click Log on using.
  • In the Account name box, you will need to type your MSN Member ID, and then go to the Password box and type your MSN account password.
  • Next you will need to click to choose the Log on using Secure Password Authentication check box.
  • After that click OK to exit the Outgoing Mail Server dialog box, and then click OK to close the <Mail Account> Properties dialog box.
  • And then click Close.

Regards,

Carl
