Outlook error message not stating actual error

Outlook 2003 (and previous versions also) have many amazing unknown errors showing often.

I say amazing because they pop up and don’t even tell you what’s wrong.

Most of them seem to take place when using the built-in Hotmail HTTP support.

For example, I am dealing with this error now:

It reads: “The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook.”

How can I even attempt to fix it if I don’t know what’s wrong?

Any good advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much.

It may have different solutions but most common solution is to remove and re-create the profile where you added the outlook Connector account. To do this, follow these steps.

Note: because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

1. Click Start, and then Click Control panel.

2. Click Switch to Classic view, and then double-click Mail.

3. Click Show profiles, and then click the profile where you added the Outlook Connector profile account in the list of profiles.

4. Click properties, and then click E-mail Account.

5. Under E-mail, click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.

6. make a note of all the e-mail accounts that are in the profile, click Cancel, and then click Close to return to the list of profiles in the mail box.

7. Click the profile where you added the Outlook connector account, click Remove and then click Yes when you are prompted.

8. Click Add profile name in the Profile Name box and then click OK.

9. Under E-mail, click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.

10. follow the instructions in the wizard to add one of the e-mail accounts that you noted in step 6

11. After you successfully create the e-mail account, you will be returned to the list of profiles in the Mail box. Click the profile that you created, and then click properties.

12. Click E-mail Accounts, click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.

13. Click Add, and then follow the instructions in the wizard to add another one of the e-mail accounts that you noted in Step 6.

14. Repeat step 13 to add all the e-mail accounts that you noted in Step 6 to the profile

If this error appears frequently, try uninstalling and then reinstalling Microsoft Outlook 2003. This will fix any corrupted files of Microsoft Outlook 2003 and will restore its settings back to the default including some of the settings that you might have customized.

If this does not work and you still see some errors appearing, try to check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system. For a much thorough diagnostics on the system, use a disk utility application like Norton SystemWorks or PC Tools Performance Toolkit.

Any errors in the file system of hard drive can cause applications to function differently and some installations to go wrong and finished incomplete.
