I am unable to open certain attachments in my Outlook 2007 because of the error message “Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments”. What setting changes should I make to resolve the issue?

Hi Kate,

Emails with this type of errors means that Outlook tried to remove it thinking file may be a virus. To go around the error you may try a few things.

·         You can try to ask the sender to upload a file on a FTP site then provide you with the link. This usually should be the case if the file being sent is an .exe file.

·         You can try to change the file name of the attached file with the use of a utility compression.

·         You can rename the file extension by adding a character or two. Just inform the person what file type it really should be.
