The list of compatible hardware with OS X are listed below:

1. MacBook Air – Late 2008 or earlier
2. MacBook Pro – Late 2007 or earlier
3. Mac Mini – 2009 or earlier
4. IMac – 2007 Mid or earlier
5. MacBook – Late 2008 , or early 2009 or newer
6. Mac Pro – early 2008 or newer
7. Xserve – early 2009

It is the most powerful OS and more power efficient. It provides all the iOS apps on your desktop. Allows you to synchronize with all your iOS devices and provides Multi screen outputs i.e HD TVs. Mac OS X has book club where you can find thousands of iBooks. It has maps and efficient view of browser, notification about your calendar, tasks and Emails rite on your desktop and much more.

It is free to download and install for all Mac users but updates are not available for free.
