Hello John, it seems like you have really got a serious problem.
There might be a problem while installing this one. Re-install MS Office and check if it is solved.
Ensure that it is not running in Compatibility mode. You can check this by following these steps:
Right-click on the Outlook.exe >> “Properties” >> “Compatibility” tab. Uncheck all boxes.
Also, if you are using x64 based OS, you also have to: either install the x64 version or allow x86 applications run from the “Control Panel”.
Hope no problem anymore.

You are getting this error because the file that keeps the Navigation Pane settings Or the profilename.xml is corrupt. Profilename is your Outlook profile stored in the following:

For Windows XP:

C:Documents and SettingsuserApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook

For Windows Vista and 7:

C:UsersuserAppDataRoamingMicrosoftOutlook

You can know if this is corrupted when the file size becomes 0KB.

To fix this:

1. Click Start> Run or click Start> All Programs> Accessories> Run in Windows Vista or 7.

2. Type Outlook.exe /resetnavpane in the run box.

3. Click OK.
