Norton internet security not working please help.

Hello everyone,

My sister has some issues on NIS2012. She said she cannot get her Norton Internet Security to work after trying to click on the NIS icon. She also noticed that the NIS icon of the notification area of the Taskbar to open NIS 2012 is white. Please see the attached image for you to have a clear picture on what I have been talking.

She also tried to uninstall NIS 2012 using Norton Removal Tools and reinstall the NIS 2012 but still no luck. She also tried to rebuild the NIS icon cache but still no difference. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what should she do?

Based upon your problem, I would suggest a complete uninstall / re-install of your NIS. Now that you are running NIS 2012, follow these steps.
Download and Save the Norton Removal Tool to your desktop.
Download and Save the NIS 2011 Installer to your desktop.
For temporary protection, turn on your Windows Firewall.
Back up your Identity Safe Data to a convenient location. Have your product key handy.
Uninstall your current Norton Version via Add-Remove Programs.
If prompted, DO NOT select the option to save your settings. Select "Please remove all user data."
Like shown below.

Restart your computer when prompted.
After the restart, run the Norton Removal Tool.
Restart your computer when prompted.
Right click on the NIS 2011 Installer and select “Run As Administrator” (XP users just double click).
If prompted, enter your product key and set up your Norton account.
Check that Norton has turned OFF the Windows Firewall.
Run Live Update a few times until no more definitions are available.

(Note*: The process for NIS 2011 and NIS 2012 is the same). However if you are still unable to run NIS, please make sure that your product key is genuine.

If that doesn't satisfy, it is recommended to contact the NIS through their customer support service, they will be able to resolve your issue.
