Hello everyone,

I have a Compaq desktop running 2 operating systems that is, Ubuntu and Windows 8. When am in Ubuntu, sound is available and I can play music but in Windows, no sound is produced. I downloaded and installed audio drivers but still no luck. Is there any other suggestion? Or what are the common audio drivers for Compaq?

You need to make sure that all drivers are installed and there are no yellow exclamation marks on your device manager. You can check the device manager by:

1. Hit the windows key.

2. Search for device manager

3. Choose Device Manager

Another way for you to go there is:

1. Go to Control panel

2. Find and click the hardware and sound link

“Remember if you don’t find the hardware and sound link you can change the Control panel view into large or small icons”

Or you can also test your audio settings by going thru this steps:

1. Window key + r

2. Type in dxdiag

Or you could just search dxdiag

From their you can make sure where the audio error is coming from.
