Network accounts are unavailable Error

Hi,

I have recently installed 10.7 and tried both upgrade install mode and fresh install mode, but now I’m unable to get connected to my domain. The error message that I’m getting is “Network accounts are unavailable”.

I have found that the domain controller was able to be pinged blindly. The machine was recognized by the computer account corresponding to Active Directory.

The computer gives me a message asking if I wanted to join the existing account.

Can somebody help me with this please?

Hello Eckel,

To resolve that issue, you will need to do the following:

You will need to confirm the Computer name in System Preferences > Sharing (Computer Name). Note that the computer name is usually bound to the Activate directory  System preferences > Users > Login Options. The Open directory utility Computer ID as well as the Hostname in the terminal should be the same.

In case the names do not match in those places, you will need to change the sharing name, and after that you can go ahead and unbind and then rebind the computer to the Active Directory using the same name as that  the sharing setup, but ensure that you FQDN.

Regards,

Carl
