Hi there,

Every time I download some apps from different sources other than Mac App Store. I don’t know how to skip this kind of error and not all the apps that I need can be found on App Store. Please can any of you experts help me to fix this error ?

Regards !

“NCbackgrounder.app” can’t opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.

This is a new type of security feature called GateKeeper.  What is makes you do is either temporarily work around the security or turn off the app.

To temporarily get around the error:

  1. Right-click on the downloaded app and click the Open button
  2. Click on Open again in the next window that opens (the one that gives you a warning to launch the app)

Turn off Gatekeeper’s Security for App

  1. Go to the Apple Menu and open up System Preferences
  2. Click on Security & Privacy>General tab
  3. You will see an icon that looks like a lock – click on it
  4. Look for the sentence that says “Allow apps download from:” and make sure you put a check in the “Anywhere” field
  1. Accept the security warnings that pop up
  2. You will now be able to open any app downloaded from anywhere or from any developer
