Uninstall your web cam driver and then reinstall the web cam once again. Provided that the web cam has the right driver for the right operating system. To look for the latest driver, go to Google and then type in the keywords, "[Brand name] web cam driver for [operating system]" and then click the result that will direct you to the official website of the web cam brand.

If the thing still fails, try installing to other computers but if it is still not working then I suggest that you bring it to an expert or just buy a new one if the repair cost is almost the same as buying a brand new web cam.

There is really nothing you can do to make a webcam work except to install its drivers. That’s the only possible way you can make it function normally and be able to use it. Most of the webcams I see are plug-and-play. They are the type of webcam that doesn’t need a driver to be installed.

Just plug it in to one of the USB ports and let Windows detect it. Microsoft Windows will automatically install the driver for the device. But if your webcam comes with software, it means it is not plug-and-play and Microsoft Windows doesn’t have its drivers among its drivers database. If you’ve already installed its drivers, try uninstalling it from the Control Panel.

Click Start, Control Panel, and then select “Add or Remove Programs”. Scroll down and select your webcam software then click Uninstall or Remove to uninstall the drivers. When uninstall is complete, restart your computer. Open your web browser and go to CCleaner Free Download then download CCleaner. Once downloaded, install it. You can select the Free version when downloading. Once installed, run it and clean your system.

Once cleaning is complete, restart your computer again. Next, connect your webcam to your computer using one of the USB ports. Microsoft Windows should detect the new device. If the device is not detected and no message shows up, transfer your webcam to another USB port. Once the message pops-up asking you to install its driver, run the webcam software to install its drivers.

See if this fixes the problem. If this doesn’t work, go to the webcam’s manufacturer’s website and download the latest software for your webcam model. Additionally, if you want to convert or register your CCleaner, download CCleaner License Codes and download the file. Use 7-Zip to unpack the file. Download 7-Zip from 7-Zip File Compressor.

Once unpacked, open the file using Notepad and copy the license code to register CCleaner. On the other hand, if your webcam still cannot be detected after trying all the available USB ports, there is probably something wrong with the webcam or with its cable. Try bringing it back to shop where you bought it or replace it with a new one.
