My iPhone 4S becomes warm after downloading GPS app

I need immediate help on my iPhone 4S. I downloaded a GPS application and started using it without problems. But while I’m trying the application, I got a phone call and totally forgotten that I have an open application running on the background. In a few minutes, I notice that my iPhone becomes moderately hot. Was it the GPS application or is there any other reason behind it? Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi Ethan,

 

The reason could be the software installed in your iPhone, this can also happens if you are running too many programs at the same time that it use a lot of battery that can warm your phone. Turn off your WiFi or 3G or even close applications when your are not using your phone as it can make your phone feel hot even you are not using your it. 

 

Try to uninstall the GPS application you downloaded and see if your phone gets warm again, if the phone doesn't seem to get hot after uninstalling it, install the GPS application again and use only your WiFi/3G and GPS only, then close all unneeded applications and see if your phone gets warm again. Using your phone at a cool temperature can lessen the heat.

It most likely isn't the app itself as most iPhone apps shouldn't get the phone to run hot. However, if such applications need to make use of the phone's GPS card, as well as the WiFi and 3G cards, then the phone is bound to become hot. If you add being on a phone call to all that, and the phone will be noticeably hot. Aside from it being hot, battery consumption will also be increased. This should be normal operation though, just try to close the app when you're not using it as well as other apps that may be using your GPS, 3G or WiFi capabilities.
