Instead of Microsoft office power point you can use the following softwares

Open office.org Impress

This is an open source software. Those work you can do with power point, you will be able to do with this software also. This has some different type of animation. Moreover you can save your file in .ppt or .pptx format also.

Prezi

You can made your presentation more effective by using zooming in and zooming out effect.

iWork-Keynote

You can also try key note. This is easy to use but has dazzling effects. This is also a healthy software.
