Missing AOL Toolbar from Internet explorer

I am having serious error with Internet explorer. I keep on getting the message.

file:///c:prgram%20files/aol%20toolbar/welcome.html when trying to open Internet Explorer. I need to click on okay three times at least to get rid of it. A friend suggested to change the home page but with no luck. I also tried looking under the folder indicated in the message (under local Disk C then program files) but there is no such file.

I also tried deleting all toolbars in Internet Explorer, ( Yahoo, Google and AOL) but then again I got the same error. I can use other programs like Firefox and Google Chrome to access web sites but I need the Internet Explorer to access my online class. It shows that I have Internet Explorer version 8.0.7601.17514, cipher strength: 256-bit, product id: 55041-049-8657565-98267.

Hi,

Your problem is internet explorer shows error message. There is more than one way to solve this problem. When internet explorer is not working or shows an error message that means you need to update our current version of internet explorer. Because when you use internet your internet explorer is updating in hidden. Now it may replace most of its files so needs to update.

  • Another option is repairing your windows. Files or data may be lost for many reasons. Repairing the windows will restore those corrupted files.
  • Replace your internet explorer folder in program files with another computer’s internet explorer folder which is running perfectly. It will repair your error and restore correctly. This is just a copy and paste task.

Looking at this "file:///c:prgram" suggest that either your setup files are corrupted either by malicious programs like Trojan horse or virus.
To solve this matter you have to uninstall the internet explorer and reinstall afresh. If the un-installation fails, do it manually by entering the program files folder in drive C and deleting the Internet explorer folder. After installing the I. E download the AOL from https://discover.aol.com/products-and-services?tags=downloads

Go to the I. E window, click the view menu, select toolbars and then select the AOL toolbar. This will work fine.

Your PC must have over 32MB of RAM to speed of 28.8 Kbps, high screen resolution and 60MB free space of hard drive disk.

Note this AOL is not supported on Mac.
