Hi guys,

I received an application error while installing Microsoft Security Essentials version 2.

It stopped installation throwing an error message. It could not read the memory.

I terminated the program and tried to install it again but no result. Have you any idea for the problem?

Please help.

Hello Hall,

You will need to do the following:

You will need to uninstall and then Microsoft Security Essentials files and folders using advanced method as follows:

  • Right click on the attachment and select Save As.
  • And then go to the File Name section and then enter the name as "mseremoval.bat" with quotes and click Save.
  • After that go to the Save As Type and then choose  All Files.
  • Right click on mseremoval.bat and then select Run.
  • A command prompt window will appear and then close when the registry updates have completed.
  • After the window has closed, you will need to delete mseremoval.bat file, and then restart and reinstall Microsoft Security Essentials.

Regards,

Nicke

Hi Allen,

I came across this issue with my MSE and do the following to solve this issue hope it will work with MSE.

1. Run Memory Diagnostic Tool. it run twice but didn't report any errors. Further, I don't think its a memory issue because is main system memory was bad more than one application would have trouble reading it, but this error only comes with MSE.

2. MSE was installed before and working fine. only issue was it used to point to me "Upgrade to Latest version" which failed with this same  "Memory could not be read error"so I thought I should just remove it and try installing the latest version. now did does not even let me install and I am left with a PC without any anti-virus, And I am scared of catching a malware.

Thanks
AJ
